Day in the life

Wow. We have had an amazing four days with Ben. This, after weeks of very difficult days, is such a blessed answer to prayer. He's fun to be with! He's sleeping well! He's polite! He's BEN!

And he locked us all in the closet tonight.

Ben's closet has the "standing room" of a typical shower stall. He often will just play in there rather than dragging toys out into his room. He and I were playing blocks while Daddy did the dishes after dinner tonight. As soon as he heard Keith coming up the stairs, he looked at me excitedly and said, "We gotta close the door - there's a dinosaur comin'!"

I quickly explained that we couldn't close the door tight because the door knob was broken, but we could hide nonetheless.

Fast forward five minutes. Now the kid has all three of us crammed into the closet, hiding from dinosaurs. It got to be a pretty exciting game. And then the door closed. Tight.

Have I mentioned I'm claustrophobic? And we don't have phones? And... well... I'm claustrophobic. Even Keith looked a little bit panicked. We frantically looked through the closet for some sort of plier stand-in apparatus. I recall hearing Keith say, "Doggonit! Why don't they make kids' stuff sharp?!"

Thankfully, it was a total of about 4.5 minutes of mild concern and Keith saved the day. And then promptly fixed the door knob.

If you ask Ben about it, he'll probably tell you it was all part of his plan.

FUN!
Isn't it great when they start using their imaginations? Sounds like quite the adventure.
